stay cool

it's important we stay cool.

I recommend subscribing to the urban dictionary. they will send you a daily email with an URBAN word of the day. some are naughty but some are usable. For example, some of my recent favorites:

March 17: bad economy

An all-purpose excuse that people use during a recession to justify doing things that are below their usual standard. Often these things in reality have little or nothing to do with the economic circumstances.

Harry: "You took your girlfriend to Applebee's on Valentine's Day? Pretty weak."
Larry: "Whatever man, I didn't have a choice. Bad economy."

March 25: Recessionista

A person who is able to stick to a tight budget while still managing to dress stylishly.

She's superstylish, always able to buy a round of drinks and still seems to be wearing a new outfit every time you see her. She's a recessionista, that New York marvel who's a magnet for a good deal. And in this economy, she's got a lot to teach us.

I'll be signing books!
Come by
Harper’s Fabrics in lovely downtown Overland Park, Kansas for a book signing on Sunday, April 5, 1-2 p.m. Bring your own cherished clothing and fabrics along and we'll brainstorm about how to stitch them into a keepsake quilt. We'll share ways to do that, along with stories about memory quilts I have made. It's the final day of Shop Hop--see you there!

My New Book

Click HERE for more about my new book, Making Memories.

out of control

I love the found object and my favorite is fabric and quilts from an unlikely source (thrift shop, garage sale, eviction pile, dumpster)…..this one was destined to be thrown out--it's signed and dated. by the way, I rescued it from a heap of junk. it had been rained on and it was cold so it was frozen, it was like carrying a car bumper away, it was so oddly shaped. Several times through the washer and it looks great!
