I have never heard the term 'toothbrush' rugs befor,
nor have I-can you elaborate a bit on the technique you used ?
A friend showed me how to make toothbrush rugs 20 years ago. It's a rug made from 2" wide strips of fabric using a toothbrush for a needle. It's very simple, made with slip knots and a great way to use up fabric. Google toothbrush rugs and you will learn more, there is plenty on the web about it.

My mother makes these all the time .every year she has one or two for us girls at Christmas time.Only she used an extra large crochet hook. I love the colors use in this one .
