Epidemic Benefits Thrifty Shoppers

You have read the news stories bemoaning the obesity epidemic that plagues our growing population. One benefit of it became clear during my latest trip to my favorite thrift shop - LARGER men's shirts.

I thought you would also admire this beauty. It's a Pierre Cardin, size 4x. The back of the shirt measures 27" long x 33.5" wide.

And what about this!! A muu-muu like 5x,  with an even bigger back - 28.5" long x 34.5" wide. Now that is some thrifty yardage. And yes, both were half-price and are 100% cotton.

  1. how much did you pay for them? I really like the top one, and there's lots of fabric to play with.

  4. You are so right! I always go to the extra large end of the men's shirt rack first. They seem to have the most gaudy prints as well. You've got some beauties here, and your prices are better than ours. They're asking $7 a shirt in Seattle these days. On half-price days, it's still a bargain.

  5. I just stumbled across yuor blog and so agree with this, I love thrift stores in general for decorating but one of my local stores has a bag day where everything you can stuff in a paper bag is $10, I go stright for the mens dress shirts and womens dresses =)

  6. Oh I'm loving those hibiscus flowers, I have the perfect project for that shirt. When I'm in thrifting mode and I see men at work wearing shirts that would work really well in a quilt I find myself saying "that's a nice shirt" and I have to stop myself from adding "can I have it when you're done".
